July 4th Parade

I explained that waving would get people to throw more candy. You can see Dax's fake smile/wave. The following picture shows when he quickly gave up on that tactic and is ready to race for anything on his side of the street.

Summer So Far

Dax has become an excellent swimmer this Summer and Calleigh has progressed tremendously as well. These kids are UNO sharks and are working on Skipbo and checkers. We've completed 2 reading lists and are working on our third as we have lots of time to read. Calleigh and Dax can often be caught feeding and tending the bobos of babydolls, building city of blocks and cars, or creating their latest art project idea together at the kitchen table.

Calleigh's First Fish

Calleigh has wanted to tag along on Grandpa and Dax's last few fishing outings. This visit Grandpa gave Calleigh her own pole and a special pink bobber for her line. She is very good at picking the worms out of the dirt and seemed most excited about that part. Here is a picture of her first fish!

The Easter Bunny

We tell our kids the truth about holiday characters, but we still take the pictures just for fun and encourage our kids to play along with the big game of pretend the world plays with these characters. So at Christmas Calleigh still refused to sit with the Santa guy, but insisted when it was the bunny, she would happily oblige. So Calleigh has been talking about sitting with the Easter bunny since the Easter stuff showed up in stores. Dax and Daddy ran off to do jump houses while Calleigh waited for the Easter bunny to return from break. You can see her glee in the pictures. We went and found Dax to take a picture with her and the bunny. You can see Calleigh looking at Dax in excitement that they were sitting with the bunny; while he is sitting only to placate Mommy and Calleigh and to get the picture over with. She asked to go back a third time!

Mommy's Favorite School Day Yet:)

We had been fighting a fever up to 104 with Calleigh for days. As long as we had medicine in her, the fever stayed down and she was happy. Dax was reading a great Robert MCCloskey classic - Make Way For Ducklings. So we had to go observe some ducks. Dax was so interested in watching the ducks and feeding them. Calleigh was thrilled to be outside and running around. Then the kids sat and made drawings based on what they saw. It was such a sweet day.

The first 2 are Dax's and the last one is Calleigh's. Calleigh knows how to draw people. So her ducks look like people with strange feet. But she was very proud of her "duck" drawing.
