"Poo-Poo" The word of the week

Dax has started telling me when he goes "poo-poo"
This morning he told me before he was going to go!
I'm pulling out the potty chair as soon as this sickness totally passes.
Sadly he's had to say this word too many times this week.
I think he is improving though.

Scary! We might have to become vegans.

My Baby is Sick:( - updated

So we are on day 5 of this. Most likely Dax has Rotavirus. It can last up to 8 days. Lots of vomiting & more. Dax has stayed pretty hydrated through all this which is pretty amazing - thank god for breastfeeding. He is barely eating. So far he's had toast, a few crackers and some rice. He's sleeping frequently. He just wants to be held all the time and is pretty cranky. It's exhausting me for him to be sick for so long.

This is the saddest sick little boy. He just lay down on the floor and fell asleep. Dax has a bad stomache virus. I've never seen him like this. We are working hard to keep him hydrated. He could use your prayers.

Word Explosion

So Dax hasn't really been into the talking thing. He had the key words he needed and the ones he was interested in (mostly animals) and that was it. Until last week. Wednesday he had three new words, Thursday five, and the last few days I lost count. He's repeating so much of what I tell him now. It's really exciting and makes me want to explain everything to him. This is so much fun for mommy.

Children's Science Museum

I really like the Science Place (recently merged with Children's Museum that used to be in VV Mall). Its a great indoor place for those days we can't go outside. They are redoing a lot of it right now and its supposed to be completed by Summer. Anyways, they have this water table which Dax really likes. I learned after last time to take his shirt off before getting started. The museum has also done alot of clean up - so the water smocks are now usable and no longer have mold on them (yeah - gross!)

Back to the Arbo this week

So the weather has been gorgeous here and warm. Dax loved running around and exploring. We are still learning to smell and look, but not touch the flowers. Dax does pretty well the first few times he leans down and holds his hands to his side just like we've practiced. But after a couple of times he'll reach out his hand to touch the flowers and look back up at me to see if I'll allow it this time.
"Mr. Elf" : So there were two little girls on the lawn today. They were quite interested in Dax and said how cute he was. Then one of the girls looked up at me and asked if she could call Dax Mr. Elf because he had such big ears! Yeah, the momma in me wanted to wack the ugly little child, but the teacher in me prevailed and explained why that would be inappropriate.

My First Ear Infection

After a very tough night, we went to see Dr. B today and found out that Dax has a pretty bad ear infection in his left ear. The good thing is that ear infections aren't contagious, the bad news is that Dr. B thinks this is a result of allergies and that we are going to be dealing with this allergy/asthma thing fora long time to come. They don't do the test until; he's a little older though. So for now we'll keep treating symptoms.

Singing In the Car

So I've become use to people laughing at me at stop lights as I sing, clap and dance to Dax to make it through to wherever we are going. They usually stop staring once I look back at them once and give them the I know I look like a fool smile. But today this lady kept staring at me and the light wouldn't change and I was starting to get uncomfortable when she rolls down her window and yells to me - I'm a music teacher, you're doing a great job. Keep it up. So I was validated for all the goofyness and learned today that humility is definitly a trait that comes with motherhood.

Cold Weather

Dax really liked the gloves. I suppose they are like shoes in some way. He gets really excited when he sees the gloves and holds out his hands. In this picture Dax had found the gloves and brought them to me to put on him.
It was freezing here.

"Bye Bir" - First 2 Word Phrase

So we have these pigeons that live in the parking garage and Dax gets very excited to see them. His word for bird is "Bir" and the other day I was saying bye birds to them and he said his first 2 word combo!

Cloth Diaper Store (not just online) In Dallas

Okay, it's in Plano - but that's close enough! I found this store today. They sell lots of cloth diapers. Babie Bottoms They are on 15th street just east of 75. They also sell Signing Time Products and clothes and lots of other stuff. It just opened recently and is worth checking out. If you make the drive there is also another baby boutique across the street as well as a cute tearoom/gift shop that sells lots of toys and baby gift items.

Currently I'm into...

Indoor play areas - its cold outside.
I am such a reader now. I can turn to the page with the balloon in every book I own. I can point to the ball, the dog, duck, etc.
Playing on the bed - running, falling into the pillows, getting off the bed going backwards, and figuring out how to use the chair to climb up onto the bed.
Pushing things around the house - okay I've been into this for a while, but I've added the new component of collecting random treasures (credit card, keys, a ball, a few miniature animals) in my pumpkin and pushing them around ontop of my current cart.
Getting on my horse all by myslef. I like to see if it stops when I stop. Then I try again and again.
Drinking from a glass - usually mommy's glass of juice as soon as I see it, I scream for it. Mommy has to give in despite her no juice rule:)

Sleeping in our LazyBoy chair

I know this picture is totally tasteless, but it was too funny to find our baby sleeping in this position

Climbing

I was trying to get the kitchen cleaned and I looked over the ledge to find Dax standind on the coffee table. I pulled him down and he got right back up. Our coffee table wasn't climbable until he figured out how to move his car in front of it!
