Marble Run

Toxic Toys - check it out.

Healthy Toys

One of our favorite soft baby books has not only lead, but arsenic in it! Yikes. I am going to go through our toys soon and get rid of all the ones known to be toxic.

Check out this site when you are considering toys.

BLESSED and SO Thankful!

This Thanksgiving I can't imagine having more. When I was in high school and early college I wanted to have a great career. When I met Matt that all changed. All I wanted to be was his wife and someone's mother. I've often wondered what life would be like had I chosen a different route in college or actually finished graduate school interupted by sweet Dax. On those days I can't take the stress of taking care of two sweet babes, I wish to be back at work. But most days I look at this sweet family and can't believe the blessings God has poured out on me. I don't know why I've been given so much, but I am oh so thankful. I'm not a huge Thanksgiving fan - a holiday centered on food - just not my thing. I guess thats another thing I take for granted. But thinking over what I am thankful for I just can't imagine having more than this sweet family.

Calleigh - Girls are so different than boys

Calleigh is into everything! Here she is under our cabinet last week. This is her favorite cabinet to get into and explore. She finds every little speck of thing to inspect.

Target Britax Scam

How does a major corporation get a ton of hits from their favorite demographics in less than 24 hours?

Offer a favorite carseat at a too good to be true price... get all the mom blogs, forums, emails buzzing about it... then rescind the offer to all those orders placed!

Target.com , you've lost my business!!

I called to ask for an explanation (I don't know why - its not like the call center people would change anything). I'd believe the honest mistake angle had they said it was supposed to be 142.99 and they would honor that price. I'd believe "honest mistake" if it was 79.99 or 27.99 or any data entry error. I can't come up with one and either could the anyone I've spoken with at Target.com.

UPDATE: I received this email yesterday.

"As an apology
for your experience, we'd like to provide you a $25 e-GiftCard to use
on Target.com. Please use the following unique e-GiftCard number when
placing your next order: xxxxx

By redeeming this e-GiftCard, you acknowledge full satisfaction and
release of any claims against Target relating to this pricing error"

Something is fishy here!

Happy Halloween

I think Halloween is a worthless holiday, but its kind of fun so we do it. What could be more fun than dressing in costume and begging for candy? Okay the concept is a bit weird. Anyway, Dax asked to be a Bat (like those we see at the zoo.), so I searched and found these wings and made ears for a hoodie.

My first day with a three year old..

A few pics of my big three year old.

This morning was Dax's actual birthday. When I explained that to Dax, he asked if we would have another party:)
It was raining this morning and Dax wanted to ride his power wheel. So he detailed for me how we could take the umbrella from the picnic table and put it top of the power wheel. Its too heavy and won't stay on I explain. He said we could just use the big tape. Its not strong enough I explained. He asked to just go outside. He proceded upstairs to get socks - for what?- to cover his tennis shoes so they wouldn't get wet in the rain. There is more, but the picture explains all. Here is Dax ready to go out in the rain. We saved the socks from going over the shoes and sent Dax for a bath rather than go out like this.

Dax's Favorite Hoodie

I start many conversations with "Dax is almost three and currently insists on dressing himself."

Pumpkin Patch

Grandmama took Dax to pick out some pumpkins today. Dax had a blast picking through them all.

Calleigh 9 Months

Calleigh is crawling everywhere and pulling up on tables. She says momma, daddy, and Dax (more like Dac)
Stats: 29.5 inches (97%), 22.5 lbs (97%), and her head circumference is up to 75%. I was very worried about this because her head was only at 20% when she was born. Not sure why this bothered me. I guess because Dax's head has always been large.

We're Home!

After nearly a week away from home, we are back. My drove to my parents' home in Austin to get out of the hurricane path and stayed a while b/c we had no electricity. My parents house is great. Dax loves playing outside, fishing with my Dad, etc., but there is nothing like being in your own home. For those of you detail oriented, you'll notice Calleigh's first professional haircut we had done while in Austin.

Calleigh's Crawling & Other Stuff

Calleigh is officially crawling! (No pics yet.)

We love bubbles.
The Gymboree are the best and worth every penny. Its super concentrated and lasts forever and the bubbles just settle on most surfaces without popping.
Once in a while I actually get Dax and Calleigh asleep for nap at the same time. When Calleigh is sleeping next to Dax I check on them every 5 minutes to make sure he's not scwooshing her. Here is what I found the other day. How sweet!

Dax found this tutu. I explained that tutus are for Calleigh to wear, not Dax. So he put it on her - neck. This is such a what on earth are you doing big brother face. She liked the tutu better around her waist.
